Dr. Theresa Huang graduated from Cheng Kong University with a bachelor¡¦s degree in Chemical Engineering; she then attended University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Ph. D in Chemistry. In 1976, she received the National 10 Outstanding Female Youth Award for her work in producing thorium oxide by chemical colloidal method.

After completing her studies, Dr. Huang joined Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology in 1972 as an associated research fellow at Nuclear Research Institute. Five years later, she was promoted to research fellow. In 1986, she became the technical supervisor at CSIST. After the reorganization of the Nuclear Research Institute, between the years of 1989 to 1991, Dr. Huang became the first chemistry division chair. Upon completion of her term as the division chair, Dr. Huang returned to her first passion, and focused her career in hydrochemistry-related research. In her more than 30 years of contribution and involvement in nuclear science, Dr. Huang lead and participated numerous important projects, including the extraction of uranium from seawater, nuclear power hydrochemistry, thorium-uranium conversion, and radioactive waste processing.

During the founding years of WIN Taiwan, Dr. Huang served as the Director and Secretary General of Chung-Hwa Nuclear Society (Nuclear Energy Institute of Taiwan). Needless to say, Dr. Huang played a key role in the establishment and development of WIN Taiwan. She actively participated in many events involving WIN, and has taken on the important task of community outreach and education. Dr. Treresa retired few years ago. Now she spends her retired life as a volunteer at the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
